- CEO Stu Solomon stresses the importance of targeted investment in data science and engineering.
- The company plans to expand its anti-fraud and advertising integrity platform.
Human Security, founded in 2012, has established itself as a leader in bot mitigation. The latest round of funding follows a previous round of $100 million in January 2022, also led by WestCap. Solomon, who has been CEO since January, brings extensive experience from the cyber security industry, including his time at Recorded Future and Optiv.
The need for click fraud prevention
Solomon explained that the decision to limit the funding round to $50 million was strategic to enable targeted investment while ensuring a path to profitability. WestCap brings not only capital, but also valuable operational expertise that will help Human Security further expand its platform.
“They are operators at heart and understand what it means to build a good business,” Solomon said. "That makes them great partners."
The expansion into adjacent markets, especially in the area of advertising integrity, is driven by the increasing link between digital advertising and e-commerce. Solomon stresses that ensuring the integrity of digital transactions in both sectors is critical.
Technological innovation
Human Security relies on AI and machine learning to improve fraud detection. By clustering behavioural patterns, the company aims to be able to identify fraud activities faster and more accurately. Solomon emphasises the importance of providing customers with timely and actionable information.
- Objectives of the technology: Improve fraud detection through machine learning. Provide easy-to-understand instructions for customers. Proactively identify fraudulent activity in large datasets.
Looking to the Future
Human Security plans to expand its data science team to better address challenges in the media and enterprise sectors. The company currently employs 400 people and expects this number to increase significantly in the near future.
“We want to add additional resources to improve our capabilities and address new issues,” Solomon said.
The current strategy focuses on organic growth, with the newly gained funds flowing directly into the development of internal capabilities. Solomon is optimistic that Human Security has significant growth potential in the coming years, in particular by entering new markets and strengthening core products.
